JACKSON, JOYCE KATHLEEN SEHER
Joyce was born on March 30, 1936, in Fresno, CA to Henry and Mollie Seher. She has one sibling, a brother, Ken Seher of Fresno. Joyce passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, December 7, 2014, in Sacramento, CA, after a brief battle with cancer. Joyce graduated from Fresno State University in 1957, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She was a member of Ladies Aid to Retarded Children (LARC'S); Littlest Angel Chapter of Children Home Society; and the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Delta Gamma. She taught kindergarten in the Fresno Unified School District before marrying her high school sweetheart in 1958. While her husband Bob completed his pharmacy education at the University of the Pacific, Joyce taught in elementary schools in the Stockton Unified School District. Upon her husbands graduation in 1961, they returned to Fresno and had their first son Mike. In 1962, they had a daughter Karen, and in 1967 another son Mark. In 1968, they moved to Sacramento, as her husband Bob was appointed as the Executive Secretary to the State Health Planning Council. In 1970, another daughter Susan was born. From 1984 to 1999, Mrs. Jackson was fondly referred to as "Mrs. J" by her students and parents at Park Vista Preschool, as well as the neighborhood kids. While being a stay at home mom, Joyce was active in Pocket Little League baseball and soccer, and the Greenhaven swim team. Joyce loved to play golf with her many friends and the Valley Hi Country Club Niner's group. Everyone will miss her delicious meals, especially her German food. Joyce will be missed by Bob, her husband of 56 years; her brother, Ken Seher and wife Melinda; sister-in law, Joanne Laurain and husband Jack; son Mike; daughter, Karen and husband Aaron; son, Mark and wife Gloria; and daughter Susan. She will always be remembered by her grandchildren, Kristina and husband Adam, Derek, Alexandra, Justin, Chad, Nicholas, Andrea, Amanda and wife Christine; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Rose, Chloe, Jordyn, and Weston who is due January of 2015. She also leaves behind six beautiful nieces and their families. Her beloved companion, Sir Bentley, will miss their long walks together in the park. In keeping with her wishes, no service will be held. Remembrances may be made to The First Tee of Greater Sacramento, 3649 Fulton Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821; or The Make A Wish Foundation, 3841 North Freeway Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95834. If you'd like to share a fond memory you have of Joyce, please send to the family at her home address.
