BOBBY RAY "Bob" CROUCH obituary

BOBBY CROUCH Obituary

Bob was born in Ellis County, Oklahoma to Jess M. and Beulah M. Crouch on June 2, 1932, along with his twin sister, Betty. He passed away peacefully on September 14, 2013, in a manner he always hoped he could, at home with his family close by his side. Bob was the sixth of ten children and is survived by his twin sister, Betty Davis of Texas; brother, Loyd (Pat) Crouch of Fresno;, and brother, Herb Crouch, now of Colorado. He came to California with his family in 1941 where they settled in Kerman. After graduating from Kerman High School in 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Piedmont from 1951 to 1955. Following his discharge from the Navy, Bob worked in drywall and soon became a drywall contractor until his retirement in 1995. In 1952 he married Betty Beagle and was so blessed with three children, Michael Crouch, Sharon Crouch Bahr and Catherine Crouch Jolley. After his divorce, he married Linda Welton Barksdale on December 14, 1974, meeting her on a blind date on December 14, 1973. From that day forward they were inseparable, best friends, "soul mates" and enjoyed a wonderful life with many outdoor activities including jeeping, horseback pack trips in the high country, dirt bike riding in Kettleman and the desert, Gold Wing trips, RVing, raising horses, numerous farm animals and his loved dogs. Bob was happiest outdoors, and when he could no longer care for his horses, he loved his tractor, John Deere mower and 4WD Mule. Life was good to Bob and Linda and their family; those lasting, wonderful memories are what we will hold onto forever. He loved life and above all, he loved his family. Bob is survived by Linda, his beloved wife; son, Michael and wife Patty; daughter, Sharon Bahr; daughter, Cathy Jolley and husband Mike; step-daughter, Christie Andrew and husband Scott; step-son, David Barksdale and wife Janelle; Linda's mom, Margaret Welton; her brother Greg Welton; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. Bob always requested there be no funeral services, but instead a Celebration, so that is what he will have, on October 26, 2013, at Michael and Patty's home in Clovis. Open House from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Please contact the family for more details

Honey, I know you always knew how much I loved you and how so very proud I am to be your wife ... you are the best thing that ever happened to me and the most wonderful husband I could have ever hoped for; we had a love deeper than love ... I don't think there's a word for that, but that's what we had!! I hope you enjoyed our Celebration of your Life on Saturday ... the day was as close to magical as it could be and that is what I prayed for every day. You were so easy for all of us to love and respect ... thanks for landing on my shoulder and saying your special hello. There were so many things I wanted to say that day and just couldn't, but forever and always you will be the Love of my life ... I love you more than yesterday and less than tomorrow ... that will never end. All my love, forever your wife, Linda

I must have gone to your house practically every day, you would think a parent would get annoyed at the kid across the street showing up so often, but I never once felt unwelcome, in fact there were always several other mutual friends there! Thanks Bob, for providing a safe and fun environment for a bunch of us and know that you have touched lives!!

The thought of you bring tears to my eyes, life doesn't feel the same knowing that I can't call you, visit you! Your famous call to me “Tesh how's the weather in Paso...., it's raining here like a cow peeing on a flat rock!!!”? I just recently found home videos I took during Christmas, just letting the camera record as it was pointed towards you. I'm so happy I can look back and see you smile, hear your voice. I think of you often, always remembering the lessons you taught me over the years. I love you, will miss you always!

Uncle Bob was like a second father growing up. When dad had a seizure, Bob was there to help get us through it. This is a great loss for all of us, but I know you are in heaven. Hopefully, working on the jeep or hunting with dad. Love, Terry

Well most of you wont know who i am but i sure rememer Bob,& im not sure if Linda will either, but im Ruben conley, most will know my dad G.C. Conley. Bob & my dad where brother in laws @ one time,& Bob taught my dad how to hang board,& my dad taught my mom,me,my brother,& yes i said my mom. My mom was the first women to be in the carpenters union in the state of CA. But shes gone now,but if it wasn`t for Bob that would have never happened. But my dad G.C. & the rest of us that knew him, will truly miss him. I remember when i was about 8 years old i asked my dad if i could call him uncle Bob,dad said i would have to ask him,& i did, he said of course i could,so he`s been uncle Bob ever since. Our thoughts & prayers for all of his family. It was truly an honor to call him uncle Bob even though he really wasnt. But he was in my eyes. Dad & i wish you all the best.

Growing up Bob let me be me. He was like a second father to me. I looked up to him because he was a strong man. I'll never forget the times he let me ride his motorcycles on the ditch bank of Tarpey Village. Only beat him once in pool, that's because he let me. Love you Bob, Rich

September 23, 2013

Sharon, Mike and Cathy I'm so sad to hear of your dads passing. My mother didn't have any bothers or sisters but your dad was like a uncle to me. Your dad always showed such great love towards us and I'm truly gratful. Michael you treated my son Douglas with that same love, your dad lives on with you. May he rest in peace until we meet again. Love you Uncle Bob
