DONNA LEE HAZEL

Mrs. Hazel was born in Oxnard, CA on October 21, 1937, and passed from this life on Sunday, February 9, 2014, with her family by her side. She was the twelfth child of fourteen siblings. She met and married her husband Don in 1955, after a courtship of six months. After their marriage, Don and Donna moved to New Mexico where they started their goal for Don to complete law school. After completing the first year of college, they returned to California to attend Fresno State and later University of California Los Angeles. Six years later and with four daughters, they returned to Fresno with a law degree. They finally started their family life and after three years in Fresno, the family settled in Sanger. Donna enjoyed participating in the Lone Star Elementary School PTA and actively participated in the Sanger Seals Swim Team where all four daughters participated in competitive swimming. The family soon became involved with the State Center Swim Club for AAU swimming, spending most weekends traveling to different areas in California. Her other associations involved being a member of the Central Valley Audubon Society (she loved birds) and a member of the Sherwood Forest Women's Golf Club. Her weekends were usually spent camping, fishing, water skiing, golfing, and traveling on family vacations. Donna was a small woman, but with a large heart. Her family always meant so much to her and she had a great gift for showing her love to the kids. All her family members and friends knew she loved them. The family wants to express their thanks to Hinds Hospice for their prompt and caring help. She is survived by Don Hazel, her husband of 58 years; daughters, Debra Santos and husband David of Sanger, CA, Lora Blevins and husband Jerry of Friant, CA, Sharon Magill and husband Paul of Fresno and Beverly Harbour of Kingsburg, CA; grandchildren, Neil Santos, Colleen Santos, April Agueros, Christopher Magill, Kevin Magill, Emily Magill, Michael Harbour, Ryan Harbour, Leah Hill, Cloey Hill, Naomi Hill, and Jerry Blevins, Jr.; sisters, Madelyn Scott, Mary Haydon, and Delores Watson; and brothers, James Arrambide and Ernesto Arrambide. She is also survived by Marie-Odile Lambert, the exchange student in 1976, and her family in France who has returned to visit and attend her American sisters' weddings and also shared Donna's love.
