Bill passed peacefully to join the Lord at home surrounded by his loving family on April 24, 2014, at the age of 81, after a short illness. He was born on November 25, 1932, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and came to California in 1934 with his parents Ralph and Georgia Bortisser. The family lived in the Kerman area where they worked together in the farming business. Shortly after, the family moved to Fresno where he graduated from Roosevelt High School. He went into the U.S. Navy then went on to attend college and trade school training where he worked in various industries related to the construction trades. He eventually opened Advanced Air Conditioning and Clovis Remodeling Service. Bill always had praise from his customers for being a person who did the job correctly and satisfaction was his main concern. After living in Fresno for some years, he settled in Clovis where he spent many good times with family, friends, and attending the Clovis Rodeo. Bill loved to hunt and fish in the Sierras and took many trips to the coast and other states; he was a member of the China Peak Ski Patrol and was an instructor; and he enjoyed square dancing. Pop had a soft heart for animals, especially all his dogs and horses. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Lee Bortisser. Bill is survived by Carolyn Gillmore, his wife of 25 years; son, Robert William Levinson and his wife Robin Lynn; Jeff's companion, Christy Sharton; step-son, Greg Gilmore and his wife Diedre; step-daughter, Kelly Gilmore; sister, Pat Nielsen and her husband Niel; grandchildren, Gina Marie Levinson and Rafael Ache, Karle Ann Levinson and Brian Barkley, Ashton Cook and his wife Carrie, Holly Bortisser, Stephanie McElroy and her husband Christopher, Joshua Gilmore and his wife Julia and Chelsea Gilmore; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, Cindy Nielsen, Gina Garcia and her husband David, Jennifer Hartzell and her husband Tad; and Tipper, one great dog. The family wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation to his family members, friends and caregivers who helped with dignity, kindness and love in his last days, so his every need was met. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at New Hope Community Church, 4620 E. Nees Avenue, Clovis, CA.
