JEFF DOUGLAS Obituary

Jeff Douglas, born on September 29, 1961, passed away suddenly from a massive heart attack on Sunday, June 12, 2011. Those who knew Jeff saw him as the best kind of man; kind, loving, and generous. Jeff was inspired most by his wife, Cara and his three children, Hunter, Cooper and Bridget. He cherished every minute spent with them and his many dear friends and family. Jeff was a man of integrity. Jeff and Cara recently celebrated their 20th year together and enjoyed an amazing life. Their beautiful children loved and cherished their dad. Their love for life, wealth of friends and belief that "you can do anything" is a testament to his character. Born in Fresno, CA to wonderful parents, Don and Rosemarie, Jeff attended Bullard High School with his loving sister, Elisa Douglas- O´Neill, and then USC where he graduated with a degree in business administration. Jeff was an avid tennis player and downhill skier and spent many years as a member of Fig Garden Swim and Racket Club. These are legacies he shares with his children. Jeff and Cara farmed Fuji apples in the Cuyama Valley for the first seven years of their marriage. He then turned his career to commercial real estate and has worked for Colliers International as a partner and vice president for the past 14 years. Jeff was known as a man of his word. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Belmont Memorial Park. Dear Cara and family,

I was deeply saddened to learn of Jeff's passing, and the loss of a great friend, beloved husband and father. Regrettably, we were out of town and unable to attend his beautiful and loving memorial service.

Jeff and I met through mutual friends while attending high school together in 1979-80. We remained friends since and into our adult lives. The vivid images of those fun and innocent times have been racing through my mind since I received the stunning news. Many of my fondest high school and early adulthood memories include Jeff, and my life is blessed for having shared his friendship.

I am so grateful for having joined your family for dinner while I was visiting Matt Wagner and his family in Truckee, CA in April 2010. I can still remember your beautiful daughter, Bridget, standing on the driveway anxiously awaiting our arrival. Jeff and your family prepared a wonderfully delicious italian pasta. It was an opportunity for Jeff and I to catch up on our lives and share old stories of friends and growing older. It was a real joy to watch my friend as a loving husband and father, a role which suited him well. It was the last time I saw Jeff, and it will remain my lasting memory of him.

Please know that you are all very close in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Love,
Mr. & Mrs. James W. O’Brien

"We pray that God will comfort you with memories of love shared, now and in the days to come. He has called back his child, and you should always know that where ever you go, where ever you are...he will never be far away."

I was just told by a mutal friend; Chris Cammack that Jeff passed away. I am deeply saddened and my heart goes out to the Douglas Family. I, too lost my husband, Bob, 5 years ago at 56- again way too young, just as Jeff at 49. I worked with Jeff as an Escrow Officer when I lived in Fresno, and totally enjoyed his generous and caring nature. He was wonderful to work with. He will be missed but not forgotten.

Cara

To The Douglas Family:

It was only two years ago that Jeff was a pallbearer for my brother's funeral. I know how much it meant to me and my family to see how many people were affected by Alex's death and as I read through the guest book, it's clear that Jeff was loved and respected by many. There is nothing that can completely take away your pain, but savor the knowledge that you were blessed to have such an incredible man in your lives. The Costis family feels your pain. Athena Costis

Dear Cara, Hunter, Cooper and Bridget,

May God's perfect peace, comfort and strength sustain and carry you through your loss and this difficult time.

May His Holy Spirit fill and dwell in your hearts, minds, bodies and souls.

God knows you by name, He knows each one of you intimately. Jesus has His hand on you and each one of your children; trust in this truth with all that you are.

Cara, you and your children are richly blessed by your faith in Christ, the love of family, dear friends and caring neighbors.

The memorial service was a beautiful testimony that honored Jeff's life, your marriage, and your family.

Cara,

I am so saddened by your loss. Jeff was such a great guy and not even fifty years old - way too young to go and with so much left to do.

With that said, please call on me for anything now, and in the future.

Yours, Doug Morris

Cara and kids,

I just got word, while out of town. I'm looking at Jeff's picture here and see in him all the things you expressed. A wise man, balanced and true, with family at the front of all of our distractions.

Always here for you guys, particularly once the immediate fades. Prayers abound for you, my dear, as you build courage---which you have always gracefully protrayed in so many cases before. You are a mighty survivor, with the loving surrender of your faith.

Jeff was a pal of mine in commercial real estate. His dry sense of humor and quick wit was refreshing. I remember joining Cara and him before they were married at the Salinas Rodeo. Cara took off to ride a horse on the track, and Jeff looked at me and said, "That's my future wife." We shared many fun times together like sliding down the water slide at Marine World which at that time was across the street from the CB Commercial Real Estate office. I always looked forward to spending time with him. I know he was an excellent father and husband. I hold him dearly in my heart. It saddens me deeply to think we will not be able to share one more laugh together again. A very special, special person has left us, but the memory of him will last forever!

Dear Douglas Family:
My sincere condolences to Cara and the children at this very difficult time.
I had the good fortune of working with Jeff as the manager of Coldwell Banker's Peninsula office. Jeff was an honorable, personable and hard working fellow with his feet firmly planted in the world of reality. He impressed me with his ability to see clearly a logical way to address a client's problem(s) and do so, as they say. in a "win-win" manner.
I was shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. He will be remembered as a very good man!!

To Jeff's Family,
I just wanted you to know how sorry I am for the loss of your dear husband and father. May God "Strengthen you and really help you" through this tragic time.~Isaiah 41:10
May your treasured memories and your loving family and friends also continue to be a source of strength for you.
With Deep Sympathy,
JR

He was a loving husband, caring father, a buddy to his three children and always a joy to be around him. He is gone but will never be forgotten by all who had the privilege and honor of knowing this kind, generous and gentle man.

Please remember that others care very much and wish you strength and comfort at this very sad time.

With Heartfelt Sympathy,

I am proud to have known Jeff as his kind heart allowed me to become his roommate when I moved from Fresno to the Bay Area and did not know a soul. We became good friends as we started our careers together. Jeff had a positive impact on all co-workers and friends he came in contact with. We grew apart as we both started new families in other cities but always stayed in touch to hear of Hunter, Cooper, Bridget and Cara's progress through life. Jeff will be dearly missed but I have been profoundly blessed by his friendship and will try to carry his wonderful spirit through my life....
