Matthew was born on September 10, 1984, in San Francisco, Ca. and passed away tragically serving his country on December 2, 2010, at the age of 26. He was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Matt served three tours of duty-in Iraq, Japan and his ultimate tour in Afghanistan. Matt was a Marine with the "Darkhorse", 3rd Battalion 5th Marines Regiment. Matt is survived by his wife, Stacie Rigall; his son Carson Abbate; parents, Karen Binion and her husband James, and Salvatore Abbate and his wife Jane Whitfield; his siblings Dominica Abbate, Elliot Abbate, Valerie Binion and Kelly Binion. He is also survived by his grandfather, Dominic Abbate and many friends, extended family members and his comrades in the USMC. "All Gunz Blazin" Semper Fi Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Light Funeral Home on Friday, December 10, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Peoples Church, 7172 N. Cedar Avenue, Fresno, Ca. 93720, on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Snelling District Cemetery in Snelling, Ca. Remembrances may be made in Sgt.
