SAUNDRA LONGCOR ISAACSON Obituary

Saundra (Longcor) Isaacson was born on August 26, 1942, in Fresno, California and passed away at home on December 20, 2013, after a short battle with a rare degenerative brain disorder. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960. While an Honors student at Roosevelt, Saundra met the love of her life, Bob, whom she married shortly after she graduated from Fresno State University in 1964. While at Fresno State, Saundra joined the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Her involvement with her sorority continued well beyond her collegiate years. In 2009, she was awarded Theta of the Year for her dedication and service to the sorority. She served as Vice President of the facilities corporation board for seven years. During the 49 years of her marriage to Bob, Saundra never had a dull year. There were 29 moves due to Bob's increasing job responsibilities with Bechtel, during which time Saundra successfully raised three children, was a teacher, and also an enthusiastic volunteer and ring leader in many school, church and community programs. In 1994, she received the PRIDE Award from the city of Walnut Creek for her many years of commitment to educating the community on the dangers of drug and substance abuse. Saundra loved the holidays, and introduced her friends to favorite traditions such as Christmas cookie exchanges, Mah Jongg and duplicate bridge. Through her travels, Saundra met and kept in touch with numerous dear friends, near and far. In fact, family and friends were her greatest sources of joy and fond memories. She will be missed by many. Saundra was preceded in death by her father, Allen Longcor in 1993; and her mother, Mary Tomei Longcor in 2003. She is survived by her husband Bob; her three children Bob (Valerie) Isaacson, Cristie (Rob) Sheffield, and Tom (Arika) Isaacson; her sister, Linda (Terry) Scambray; brother, Allen (Joann) Longcor; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She adored her six grandchildren, Courtney, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Kaya, Thunder and Chaos. Saundra will be fondly remembered by them and so many others. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fresno. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday January 3, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fresno. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made in Saundra's name to Kappa AlphaTheta Alumnae for the Scholarship Fund, c/o Daryl Erdman, 344 Baron Avenue, Clovis, Ca. 93612; or an organization of your choice.

I DIDN'T KNOW SAUNDRA & BOB WELL, BUT WE GRADUATED FROM ROOSEVELT HS TOGETHER AND I WAS SAD TO READ OF HER PASSING. MAY SHE REST IN PEACE AND MAY THE FAMILY HAVE PEACE WITH THEIR LOSS.

What a gift to have known such a beautiful, loving, caring person. I will cherish the memories of hearing her laugh, listening to her tell a story, or just seeing her smile. Our hearts and prayers are with the family. God bless! Doug, Kim, Jake and Lindsey Lone Tree, Colorado

As we walk through the journey of life, we meet many who become acquaintances. A few become very dear friends like Saundra was to us. We love you Bob.
