Benjamin "Benny" Haw was born in Fresno on July 8, 1923, and passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. He attended local west side schools and graduated from Edison High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. Upon his return from the service, Ben worked as an independent insurance agent for 40 plus years and for various companies including Travelers Insurance. He was a member of the Fay Wah Club, Fresno Bonsai Association, and the American Legion. Ben volunteered 17 years at the Veterans Hospital. Ben was preceded in death by Patricia Haw, his wife of 47 years; brother Robert; sisters, Doris Yim and Catherine Chin. He is survived by his daughter, Christine Takeda and husband Lindsay; grandchildren, Kaylene, Alyssa, Jacquelyn, Mark and Chad; sisters, Bernice Quan, Vivian Nomura, and Ginny Kamimoto; and brother, Phillip Haw. A Celebration of Ben's Life will be held at the First Chinese Baptist Church, 6080 N. Angus St., Fresno, Ca. 93710, on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Remembrances may be made in his memory to the First Chinese Baptist Church; or Valley Caregivers Resource Center, 3845 N.
