To our dear friends and acquaintances, it is with a sad heart that we must tell you of the passing of Tootie. Tootie left her earthly home on Sunday, February 3, 2013, to join her mother Ruth, her step-dad Gene and her sister Suzanne in their heavenly home. Tootie was born in Dickenson, North Dakota, raised in Lodi, California, and dedicated her life to helping others as both a friend and in her professional career. She graduated from Lodi High School and went to San Joaquin Delta Community College to become a licensed Vocational Nurse. She later went to Fresno Community College to become a Registered Nurse and finished her formal education by obtaining her Bachelor Degree in Nursing from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Tootie worked at Fresno Community Hospital and St. Agnes Medical Center for over a collective 45 years. She touched many people in her various positions and the programs she managed and was so respected by her professional peers, she was chosen by the Fresno City and County Commission on the Status of Women as "Woman of the Year" in 1994. For those of you who knew Tootie, it would not come as a surprise that her most enjoyable day at St. Agnes was "Daffodil Day" when she would hand out flowers to patients while in costume as 'Giggles the Clown'. Tootie is survived by Gerald, the love of her life, her caring and devoted husband of 31 years. The times they enjoyed the most were the wonderful vacations they took to Cancun, Mexico, Hawaii, the California Coast and Lake Tahoe. The first thing they packed up was their golf clubs. Tootie is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law from Lodi, Rich and his wife Elaine and, Paul and his wife Becky; her brother Gene Jr., who lived with her and Gerald, remains here in Fresno. She also had many, many friends and associates and we will all miss her dearly. The family would like to thank the staff and providers at St. Agnes for their tender loving care, especially her devoted nurse Bill White. We would also like to thank the staff and Doctors on 2-East, the Infusion Room and the ICU. We offer additional special thanks to Dr. David Koster, Dr. Margaret Hadcock, Dr. Steven Levy, Dr. Michael Saul, and Dr. Chris Thomson. A Memorial Service and a Celebration of Life of Tootie will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Peoples Church, G.L. Johnson Chapel at 10:00 a.m. in lieu of flowers, remembrances should be sent to
. Tootie reached into so many lives and was loved by all. She will live forever in our memories and hearts.
