Robert Lea Hanson passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the age of 79. He was born in Castella, California on August 11, 1933 to Curtis and Jessie May Hanson. He grew up in northern California and graduated from Quincy High School in Quincy, California in 1950. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. For the next 20 years, he would work as an airplane mechanic in the Pacific Fleet. His travels with the Navy would take him many places, including Hawaii. This is where he met Lilinoe Kahuena, and the two would marry on April 1, 1955. They were together until Lilinoe passed away in 2003. When Bob retired from the Navy in 1970, he and his family would settle in the Central Valley, eventually buying a house in Fresno. He would go on to work for Pacific Gas and Electric as a hydraulic crane operator throughout northern California until his retirement. Bob enjoyed riding his Harley, working on cars, spending time with family, and all things Hawaiian. In his later years, Bob visited Hawaii a couple of times after Lilinoe's death to visit family. He was also a proud member of VFW CA Post 5845. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilinoe; his oldest son, Robert Lani; and his brothers, Chris and Frank Hanson. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Violet and David Cervantes, Curtis and Terry Hanson; his grandchildren, David Lopaka Cervantes, Noelani Martinez and her husband Michael; and great-grandchildren, Layla Analiese and Michael David Martinez. He is also survived by siblings, Maryanne, Kristy May, Sandy and William; and by many family members in California and Hawaii. Visitation will be held at Stephens and Bean Chapel, on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park, on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. Stephens & Bean Chapel, 202 North Teilman Avenue, Fresno, California (559)268-9292
