Loran Lee Baker Sr., age 72, of Fresno, CA passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Loran was born in Topeka, KS and moved to the Bay Area in 1959. Loran was married to the love of his life, Virginia, for 53 years. Loran's passion for cars turned into his life's work. A Sales Manager for Fresno Mazda, Fresno Nissan, and Downtown Datsun made Loran an iconic figure in the car sales industry. Loran found escape from life's hassles through hunting, fishing, and sailing. He treasured his family and found peace sailing on the ocean, in the islands of Hawaii, camping in the mountains, and in the Santa Cruz Harbor. Loran's 45 foot sailboat brought him and Virginia years of happiness sailing up and down the coastline of the Pacific Ocean. Loran cherished his family members and when his son, Sergeant Loran "Butch" Baker was killed last year, in the line of duty, it broke his heart and crushed his spirit. Loran is survived by his wife Virginia; brother Ron; sister Kathy; daughter, Sandy Perez and her husband Rich; daughter-in-law, Kelly Baker; grandchildren, Heather, Nick, Laura, Jillian, Kyle, Adam, and Haileigh; and great-grandchild Abygail.
