Betty McGinnis "Morgan" passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer in Ocala, FL. She was born on June 28, 1953, in Fresno, CA.
She was born Betty Rae Nichols, to Wallace and Esther Nichols. She grew up in Fresno, CA on Wrenwood Avenue across from Hoover High School where she graduated in 1971. There, on that same street in that same year, she met, fell in love and married the boy next door, Howard Morgan. Howard and Betty had three kids, Neal, Nolan, and Susan. She was an incredible wife and mother. Betty was filled with life and happiness. She loved to smile, laugh and cook. She absolutely loved the holidays, traveling, old black and white movies and television shows. Betty started Candy Cane Lane on Purvis Avenue in Clovis, back in 1989. Betty loved to bake and cook and always seemed to have an extra four or five mouths to feed come dinner time. She was most famous for her original Barbeque sauce and is still a secret to this day. She loved to make people happy. She put thought into every gift. She did nothing without love. Another unique thing about Betty was her love of "Alice in Wonderland." Her collection was even featured in the Fresno Bee. After 33 years of marriage, she lost her husband Howard to cancer. While exploring the world with a new sense of purpose and life, she met her new husband, Lloyd "Luke" McGinnis, and married him on February 18, 2006. In 2010, she retired from Fresno Unified School District where she had passionately worked in special education. With Luke by her side, and mostly on a Harley, she traveled more in the past eight years then she had the previous 50. From Niagra Falls to the Grand Canyon, she saw all America had to offer.
Betty is survived by her husband, Luke Mc- Ginnis; and family, Susan Morgan, Nolan Morgan, Neal Morgan, Tawna Morgan, Halen Morgan, Jaden Swift, Cameron Swift, Carol Owen, Sandra Nichols, Chelsea McGinnis, Ashley Voorneveld, and Emma Voorneveld.
