Carl was born to Grover and Bertha Nutting on January 29, 1918, in Dexter, NY. He passed away in Sanger, CA on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the age of 96. Carl was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was involved in campaigns-Ardennas (Battle of the Bulge) and Normandy. Carl enjoyed hunting, golf, and fishing. He was a fanatic Fresno State Football and baseball fan. But most of all he loved his family. He was a member of The Memorial United Methodist Church of Clovis, Bethany Masonic Lodge #821, F&A.M. of Black River, NY., and American Legion Post #673 of Black River, NY. Carl is survived by his wife of 69 years, Viola Nutting, of Sanger, CA; his two daughters, Donna Balakian and her husband H. Patrick of Clovis, CA, and Mary Nutting- Doig and her husband Ron of Sanger, CA. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at the Clovis Cemetery on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 701 Van Ness Ave., Fresno, CA 93721; or Memorial United Methodist Church of Clovis, CA 93612.
