Roxy Mosesian Jenanyan was born on August 18, 1915, the same year of the Armenian Genocide. Thanks to the grace of God, she was born in this wonderful country and not in Turkey where she could have been killed, adopted and converted or orphaned. She was born in her parent's humble farmhouse in Fresno's Central High area. She was the youngest of four children born to Charles and Aznive Mosesian. Roxy attended Madison Grammar School, Central High and Fresno Technical from where she graduated. She attended Fresno State College as a prenursing student. Leaving that pursuit, she then attended 4 C's College and secured a job at the brand new Newberry's. Quite a welcomed feat for a person of her heritage where small town prejudice against her ethnicity could make things difficult in a post depression era. Roxy met her future husband, Charles, at her brother Aram's furniture store. They were married on May 4, 1941, and had 45 years together. Roxy's faith and church were very important to her. She was a choir member, Sunday school teacher, primary department superintendent and held many positions in her church's Dorcas Guild. With Charles, she served as a deacon at Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church. Roxy loved Bible Study Fellowship and her oil and water color classes with the many new friends she made along the way. Roxy's last four and a half years were at the California Armenian Home where she received wonderful care from a great staff and made more new friends. She is now at home with her Lord and Savior. God be with you, Roxy! She would always say this when there was a departure. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Albert, Aram and Edward Mosesian; her husband, Charles; and most recently her son, Charles "Chick". Roxy is survived by her daughter, Kathleen; and many friends and relatives. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns and Blair Funeral Home, 1525 East Saginaw Way, Fresno, California (559)227-4048
