Veta Davidson Smith, 89 years old, was born at home in rural Arkansas on July 30, 1923 and passed into eternity on November 8, 2012. Maxine had suffered with alzheimer's in her later years, but now is whole. She now joins her beloved, William, her husband of 63 years, who preceded her in death on November 9, 2008. Maxine was the second of seven daughters of Robert and Lillie Mae Davidson. Maxine served with her husband as pastor's wife for 44 years in his ministry in churches in Arkansas and California. Maxine was a kind and tender hearted woman with a great love for little children. She had a quiet and gentle spirit, but could be very stubborn. Even with her personality change that came about with her alzheimer's, she was very independent and stubborn. Mother, we love you and will miss you. May we honor you in our lives and remember all the things you taught us to righteous living and to love Jesus. We were blessed to have you as our mother and we thank the Lord for giving you to us as our mother for the short time we have you on earth. You were the blessing of a good and godly mother and wife. She has two surviving sisters, Jean Simone in New Jersey and Edith Mills in Little Rock, Ark. She has seven surviving children, Carolyn Aldama, Rebecca Sickler Tully, Virginia Smithbennett and their spouses of Clovis, Ca; Barbara Logan and her spouse of Fairbanks, Alaska; Donald Smith and his spouse of Mojave, Ca; Patricia Weinbrenner of Kansas City, Kansas; Dwight Smith of Clovis, Ca. She has 19 surviving grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Clovis Funeral Chapel, on Thursday, November 15, 2012, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will have private funeral services.
