Eleanor Schmalhaus of Lochbuie, passed away Aug. 29, after a short battle with cancer at home with her family at her side.
Her mother, Estelle Scruggs, and a sister, Elvira Sisher, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 59 years Rodney Schmalhaus, also of Lochbuie; Renee and Mike Campbell, of Hudson; Rodney Jr. and Sharon, of Pea Ridge, Ark.; Robi and Troy Valder, of Lakewood; grandchildren, Jasmine Schmalhaus of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; Monte Schmalhaus of North Chicago, Ill.; Trevor and Tanner Valder of Lakewood; sisters, Dona Cole, of Florida; and Martha Raczka of Clifton.
Eleanor was an eternally proud grandmother, doting wife and an awesome mom. Her hobbies included a love of playing slots, bowling and bingo. Even in difficult times she challenged us with her headstrong demeanor, quick wit and sharp humor. She recently celebrated her 80th birthday with her husband, children and grandchildren.
