Mary Louise Ruiz, 95, of Fort Lupton, passed away Feb. 12. Mary was born in Holly June 21, 1922, to Jesus Oviedo and Frances (Oliveras) Oviedo.
Mary married Joe Ruiz Dec. 7, 1941. They had six children. Mary loved her family, and she loved cooking.
She worked in the food department for the Adams County School District, the then-Brighton Detention Center and the then-Brighton Community Hospital. Mary's warm smile and loving character brought everyone together. She always had a smile on her face and was so kind to everyone she interacted with.
Mary not only watched her own children grow up, but she also watched her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Everyone was always welcome at gram's house.
Mary was a woman of her faith, as she believed strongly in God and prayer. She was a member of the Holy Family Society. She blessed everyone she came across, especially her family. Everyone will miss Mary, as she was such an influential figure to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love and smile were one of a kind.
Survivors include her children, Frances Solano, Nicky (Robert) Abeyta, Julia (Henry) Alvarado, Bob (Patsy) Ruiz, Kris (Joe) Diaz, and Renee (Jimmy) Gonzales; her nephew, Ruben Ruiz; a sister, Antonia Ruiz; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Her husband; her parents; her grandson, Jimmy "Gordo" Gonzales; and her great-granddaughter JaLisa Price, preceded her in death.
The Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at St. William Catholic Church, 1025 Fulton Ave., Fort Lupton. The Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, also at St. William. Interment follows at Hillside Cemetery.
