Miguel "Mike" Garcia, 64, of Wattenberg, passed away May 30.
Mike was born in Brighton Feb. 17, 1954, to Ben and Stella (Giron).  Mike attended schools in Fort Lupton, graduating from Fort Lupton High School in 1972.  Mike married Theresa Navarro in Wattenberg May 8, 1976.  Together they had two children; Mikal and Robert.
Mike worked in maintenance for several municipalities, including Brighton, Lafayette, Aurora and Wattenberg.  Mike also worked for COBE Labs in Arvada, manufacturing blood pumps.  Mike loved working with his hands, especially masonry work.  He loved playing ball, especially baseball and softball and earned the nickname "The Hammer" for his hitting performances on the field.  It gave him great pleasure to coach his children and grandchildren and to bowl with his relatives.
In his retirement years, Mike took up driving a school bus for St. Mary's Catholic School in Greeley, where he transported children from Fort. Lupton to Greeley.
Mike will always be known as a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years; children Mikal (Kevin) Paugh and Robert (Kim) Garcia; grandchildren, Shelby, Chase, Saul and Lando; his siblings, Greg (Angie) Garcia, Karen (John) Pino and Joel (Nicole Plemmons) Garcia; and father-in-law Lorenzo Navarro.
A visitation and Rosary were June 5 at St. Williams Catholic Church in Fort Lupton. Mass of Christian burial starts at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the church, 1025 Fulton Ave.
