Ellen Russell Munroe Youngblood, 60, of Winter Garden, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 14, 2013, surrounded by her family at the ICU Burn Unit of M. D. Anderson Hospital in Orlando. Ellen was born on June 9, 1952, in Quincy, Florida, to the late Ruth Bailey and Mark Welch Munroe, Jr. She graduated from the public schools of Quincy, North Florida Junior College, and Florida State University. She taught in several schools in Orange County, was a real estate agent, and gave personal tours to visitors on the various entertainment properties located there. Ellen died from an allergic reaction to treatment for Lymphoma. The family appreciates the care she received from the 4th floor staff of M. D. Anderson.
Ellen married Winter Garden native, Richard Michael Youngblood, July 12, 1972, at Centenary Methodist Church in Quincy, with the Rev. Lee Ruskin presiding. Out of this union she leaves her husband, Michael Youngblood and their three sons: John Tye Youngblood (Amanda), Ashley Munroe Youngblood (Ashley Marie) and Collin Davis Youngblood, and three special grandsons: Gavin Michael, Kainoah Liam and Tristan Alexander Youngblood. Ellen was the youngest of seven children and leaves two brothers: Ray Bailey Munroe, Sr. (Peggy) and James D. (Don) Munroe, Sr. (Lynn) of Tallahassee and two sisters: Ruth Bradley Munroe Taylor of Lakeland, FL, and Marian Temple ("Tee") Hinson (Wilson) of Quincy; a special devoted friend and 2nd mother to Ellen, Mary Knight Roberts. Also surviving are 19 nieces and nephews, and 35 great- nieces and nephews. Ellen was a devout Christian and devoted her life to her church, family, friends, and those in need. She was "everybody's mom" with her jovial personality and laughter.
She is also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Radcliffe Munroe Nicoll; her brother, Mark Welch Munroe, III; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert F. (Bobby) Taylor; and nephews, Francis Richard Nicoll, Jr. and Ray Bailey Munroe, Jr.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 21, 2013, after the 11:00 A. M. Graveside Service at Hillcrest Cemetery, Quincy, FL. Visitors are welcome anytime at the home of "Tee" and Wilson Hinson 331 N. 14th Street, Quincy.
