Mr. Arthur "Ken" Kenneth Harmon, Jr. passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his residence in Bennettsville, SC. He was 82 years old.

Born April 15, 1935 in Quincy, Florida, he was the son of the late Arthur Kenneth Harmon, Sr. and Robbie Briggs Blitch. Mr. Harmon was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bennettsville and was a member of the church choir. He desired to make Marlboro County a great place to live and dedicated himself to serving his community.He was the owner and operator of the WBSC Radio Station in Bennettsville. He was the Executive Director of the Bennettsville Downtown Development Association and the instructor for the Leadership Bennettsville and Junior Leadership programs that encouraged and educated both young people and adults alike on the necessity of having responsible leadership in our community. He served on the Economic Development Board was a former member of the Marlboro County and State School Boards. He also instigated the acquisition of the old cinema for use as the Marlboro Civic Center. He enjoyed directing Christmas parades over the years and being a member of The Marlboro Players. He will be dearly missed and always remembered for his love and dedication to this community.

Surviving are his daughters, Julie Harmon Sharp (Chris) of Georgetown, SC and Tscharner Harmon Lord (Gene) of Summerton, SC; son, Robbie Briggs Harmon of Charleston, SC; sister, Mary Catherine Harmon Kidd (Joe) of Clarksville, TN; niece, Carrie Jabkowski; nephew, Kenneth Gainey; four grandchildren, Jonathan Sharp (Janna), Rebecca Sharp Prevatte (John), Lee Alexander Lord, and Shelley Lord Rholetter (Jason); and four great grandchildren, James Emerson Prevatte, Abigail Joanna Sharp, John Alexander Rholetter, and Madison Grey Rholetter.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Bennettsville with visitation just prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in The Gathering Room at the church.
