Larry Edwin Walker (March 24, 1940 – February 28, 2014) Edwin Walker died Friday, February 28, 2014 at home, while under the care of Covenant Hospice. He was born in Jackson County on an Easter Sunday morning. Mother, Mattie Bea Neel Bowman, and family moved to Chattahoochee when Edwin was around six years of age and to Quincy around age 10.

Most people will remember him as the tall, skinny fellow who played the tuba in the Quincy High School Band. He joined the U.S. Army and served for three years and then served seventeen years in the U.S. Air Force until he retired in 1981.

Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita Walker of Quincy, two daughters Catherine Ann Downs of Chattahoochee, Carolyn Sue Walker of Quincy, three grandchildren, Adrienne Downs of Marianna, Martha Downs of Marianna, and David Downs of Chattahoochee, a sister, Mary Moncrief of Bristol, a niece, Melissa O'Neal (Lee), two great nephews, John and Eric O'Neal, all of Bristol.

The family has decided not to hold a funeral service but will have a private memorial gathering at a later date. Mr. Walker chose to be cremated. Those who wish may make a memorial donation to Covenant Hospice, 1921Capital Circle NE, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
