A celebration service honoring her life will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at East Gadsden Baptist Church, 211 Sixth St. N., with the Revs. Chad Chandler and Gary Cardwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service on Tuesday. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at East Gadsden Baptist Church with Crestwood Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Harbison is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, the Rev. William "Bill" Harbison; children, Paul (Cindy) Harbison, Cathy (Jeff) Graves, Brian (Gina) Harbison, Mary (Gary) Stovall and Mitzi Harbison; grandchildren, Micah (Brandi) Harbison, Seth (Brittany) Harbison, Jessica and Brittany Harbison, Alex and Aaron Graves, Cameron Stovall; sister, Gwen Law; sister-in-law, Mary Lambert; brother-in-law, Don Lambert; a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Verla Miller; parents-in-law, Bill and Opal Harbison; brothers, Eugene and J.D. Miller; son, Danny Harbison; and grandson, Jared Harbison.
Mrs. Harbison was born in Linden and a native of Winfield. She married the love of her life, Bill, on Nov. 3, 1951. She was devoted and dedicated to her husband's ministry for 58 years.
Throughout those 58 years, she served in many capacities in each church alongside her husband. She was instrumental in starting the kindergarten at East Gadsden Baptist Church in 1965. She worked with youth within the church and planned numerous camps and mission trips to various parts of the country. She acquired the nickname "Harbie" by the youth, and is still known to those by that name. She had a servant's spirit and worked tirelessly and without hesitation. Mrs. Harbison was also instrumental in forming the senior adult group "Young at Heart" at East Gadsden Baptist. During those years, she escorted the group to 44 states within the United States. She loved to travel and enjoyed taking the group places they had never seen.
She was an avid Auburn football fan. She enjoyed watching the games with her family. Her family was her passion, and she looked forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild, Jay Reid Harbison, due to be born in two weeks.
Pallbearers will be Micah and Seth Harbison, Cameron Stovall, Eddie Lambert, Nic Lambert and Nathan Patterson.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Gadsden Regional SICU nursing staff, Dr. Warren, Dr. Gandhi, Dr. Kibir, Dr. Kaleem, Dr. Kwan and Dr. Kelly, Drs. Lucian and Charles Newman, Dr. Szeto, Dr. Robinson, Davita Dialysis and Physician's Choice Dialysis.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the East Gadsden Baptist Church Lottie Moon Christmas offering or charity of choice.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Such precious memories I will have and will always cherish of this very special woman. As Harbie to me she will always be, and I will forever smile when I think of all the childhood memories I have from all our travels with the Youth of East Gadsden Baptist Church. My love and prayers are with each of the Harbison family members and a special Hug to Bro Bill for his caring heart and soul.

Words are so very inadequate to express the depth of love and admiration felt by innumerable souls here and departed for the entire Harbison family, Brother Bill and Kay in particular. Their service for the Lord to others in the flock has been tireless, inspirational, and exempliary. I pray God give you comfort and bring to mind the sweet memories in abundance of Kay, her smiles, her testimony, her encouragement, and courage.
