Klossner, Logan - Hokes Bluff
At the young age of 25, Logan Riley Klossner was tragically taken from his loving family and friends on Thursday, April 30, 2015, to peacefully join his mother and grandfathers in Heaven. Logan was a proud father, husband and firefighter, and was soon to be a paramedic, with the Gadsden Fire Department in Alabama. Born on November 28, 1989, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., Logan was the oldest son of David and Katie Klossner, and the late Jerri Lynn Roots. Raised in both Tupper Lake, N.Y., and Castle Rock, Colo., Logan was an all-star athlete in football, lacrosse, wrestling and track at both Douglas County High School (Colo.) and Tupper Lake High School (N.Y.). As a sophomore starter on the varsity football team at Douglas County High School, Logan was proud to be part of the 5A State Championship. While on Tupper Lake High School's varsity football team, Logan was named to First Team All Northern, Offensive MVP Section X, and was a member of the undefeated Class D Championship team. Logan holds the record for all time leading rusher for the Tupper Lake High School with 1,662 yards, and received the William Gould Memorial Best Boy Athlete Award in 2008. Always chasing the next adventure, Logan knew from a young age he wanted to be a soldier and firefighter, even serving as a Junior Explorer with the Castle Rock Fire Department (Colo.) when in middle school. With his incredible love of music (especially Johnny Cash and Metallica), Logan often sang and played guitar in several bands with his friends. Logan accomplished so many things in his short life and always met challenges with unbelievable strength, courage, humor, determination and grit. After graduating from Tupper Lake High School in 2008, Logan attended Norwich University (Vt.) and Clinton Community College (N.Y.) before joining the Marine Corps in 2009. While in boot camp at Parris Island (S.C.), Logan won the esteemed "Iron Man Award" for the recruit with the best physical fitness test. Logan met, and began dating, his future wife, Tanya (Johnson), during the Marines. After the Marines, Logan attended Colorado Mesa University for a short time, where he played intercollegiate lacrosse and competed with the rodeo club. Shortly after, he moved from Colorado to Alabama in 2012. Logan married Tanya on February 16, 2013, at St. James Catholic Church in downtown Gadsden. They joyfully welcomed their beautiful son, Jamison Cash, to the world on February 4, 2014. Logan is survived by his loving wife, Tanya, and son, Jamison Cash, of Hokes Bluff, Ala.; his parents, David and Katie (Damp) Klossner of Commerce, Mich. (formerly of Castle Rock, Colo.); his parents-in-law, Russell and Mary Johnson of Hokes Bluff, Ala.; Logan's twin sister, Micah Klossner of Lake Placid, N.Y.; his brother, Dakota Klossner and wife Christina of Parachute, Colo.; his younger sister, Ellie Klossner of Commerce, Mich.; his grandmothers: Geraldine Klossner of Tupper Lake, N.Y., Gussie Fanning of Alva, Okla., and Barbara Damp of Penney Farms, Fla.; his brother-in-law, Steve Johnson; sister-in-law, Tabatha Johnson; sister-in-law, Leighanna and husband Kolby Preston, all from Hokes Bluff, Ala.; and nephews Addison Graves, Teegan Graves and Kohen Preston, all from Hokes Bluff, Ala., and Elijah Klossner from Lake Placid, N.Y. Logan is also survived by his fire department brothers, Marine brothers, close friends, cousins and many other loving relatives. Logan was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jerri Lynn Roots, and his grandfathers: Clifton Roots, Reynold Klossner and Robert Damp. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Gadsden Fire Station (Station 2), 5121 Airport Road, in Gadsden, Ala. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Logan Klossner's name at First Responders for Christ ( http://1stresponders4christ.com/ ) or at http://www.gofundme.com/tj3syc.
