Carl "Cody" Clayton

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. Carl "Cody" Clayton, 89, of Gadsden, who died Friday, March 15, 2013. Elder David Manilovac and John Clayton will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Mr. Clayton was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School, having excelled in football and was offered scholarships. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, having served in World War II. He was a faithful member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Helon "Marjorie" Clayton; parents, John and Claudia Clayton; three brothers; three sisters; and son-in-law, Hoyt Fugatt Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Ann Fugatt; grandchildren, Sherry (Tommy) Bain, Carla Laird, Leigh Ann (Scott) Taylor; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Taylor, Charles Quattlebaum, Stan Clayton, Robert Clayton, Channing Black and Robert Dibble.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
