Charles William Chandler

Charles William Chandler, 68, Glencoe, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crossville Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bro. Max Roden and Dr. Gary Ashley will officiate. Burial will be at Union Grove Baptist Church.
He was born and raised in DeKalb County. He was a 1962 graduate of Crossville High School, a graduate of Jacksonville State University and a graduate of University of Alabama. He taught at Southside and Hokes Bluff high schools before becoming Dean of Students at Ayers State Technical College in Anniston. During his 25 years in education, he met so many people and never met a stranger. Everyone that knew him loved him. He was a member of New Beginning Church in Gadsden.
After retiring, he played golf at Briarmeade Golf Club in Glencoe, where he made many dear friends. Charles also loved playing with his two Pomeranians, Duke and Daisy.
Charles and Linda were season ticket holders and avid fans of the Crimson Tide of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Hughes and Beatrice Chandler. His father pastored churches in Alabama for years before joining Campus Crusade and moving to North Carolina in 1970. He was also preceded in death by Altus and Lonzo Harper and several members of the Morrison family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Naylor Chandler; daughter, Tammy Chandler, Oxford; sister, Judy Chandler Jeramias (Steve), Wilmington, N.C.; nephews, Justin (Grace) Jeramias and Jordan Jeramias.
Pallbearers will be H.K. Reeves, Kevin Brown, Don Richey, Allan Wilson, Donnie Myars and Donnie Sutton. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1962 class of Crossville High School.
