Edward "Mr. Ed" Denson

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel for Edward Denson "Mr. Ed," 84, of Gadsden, Ala., who passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2013. The Rev. E. Gray Bean will officiate. Burial will follow at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home & Cemetery is in charge of services.
Edward Denson served in the U.S. Army for more than 21 years as an Armored Commander, Armored Tank Commander, Platoon Sargeant and Military Policeman. He stated that some of his proudest moments in his life were when he met his wife, Edith, in Germany and when he received the job of Armored Tank Commander. After serving in the Army, he was a local businessman and owner of S&T Tire Service in Gadsden, Ala. After his retirement, he spent his time gardening, drinking coffee at Hokes Bluff Jack's and watching old Western movies while smoking his cigars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma Denson; sisters, Odessa, Iune, Bernice and Louise; brothers, Buford, Bayron, Blue, and Coy.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Asum Denson; daughter, Tina (Gary) Martin; sons, Steve Denson, Tommy (Phyllis) Denson; grandchildren, Sonja (Todd) Cook, Tabitha Martin, Brother Bernard Denson O.S.B., Nathan Denson, Holly (Tim) McGinnis, Heath (Wendy) Denson; great-grandchildren, Taylor Horne, Gracie Martin Dodd, Layton Horne, Ally Cook, Tiffany McGinnis, Brittany McGinnis and Leah Lewis; special friends, E.L. Martin and Family, Bill and Becky Crane.
Pallbearers will be Steve Denson, Tommy Denson, Brother Bernard Denson O.S.B., Nathan Denson, Heath Denson, Todd Cook, Garry Wayne Horne Jr. and Tanner Ford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Martin, E.L. Martin and Bill Crane.
Special thanks to his granddaughters, Tabitha and Sonja, for taking such good care of their Pawpaw during his final days; Dr. Thomas Corley, Dr. Cesar Fernandez and Amedisys Hospice staff, especially his nurse, Scott, and his aide, Monica.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel, located at 1901 Piedmont Cut-off, Highway 278 East, Gadsden, AL.
