Euehl Marshall (Gus) Holmes

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Collier-Butler Chapel for Euehl Marshall (Gus) Holmes, 89. The Rev. Richard Bradford will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Holmes went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 2, 2013. He was born on June 12, 1923, in Blount County to Cecil S. and Vicie E. (Hall) Holmes. Gus served in World War II in Battery "A" 398th 3rd Army, 14th Armored Division in Normandy and went on to help liberate Dachau prison. He retired from B.F. Goodrich. He was also a member of Zamora Shrine and Cedar Bend Mason Lodge and a member of VFW Post 8600.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (McKinnon) Holmes; son, Kenneth Marshall Holmes; parents, Cecil S. and Vicie Holmes; and brother, Arvel Holmes.
He is survived by his daughter, Jami (Perry) Williamson; granddaughters, Jessi Marie Riley Williamson and Chelsea Williamson (Brant) Bush; great-granddaughter, Arilyn Bush; brother, Robert L. (Roberta) Holmes; and sister, Glenda (John) Arthur.
The family would like to thank the eighth-floor staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center, Dr. Ayers, Dr. Robinson, and the most wonderful staff of Gentiva Home Health and Hospice, especially Tina Amberson, who became a member of the family.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, prior to the service.
