James Edward Dawson

Mr. James Edward Dawson, 59, of Steele, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, with family by his side at Riverview Hospital in Gadsden, following an extended illness.
Eddie was born Oct. 3, 1953, in Woodstock, Ga., to James Paul and Vivian King Dawson. He graduated from Cherokee High School and attended Gadsden State Community College. Eddie served his country proudly in the U.S. Army as a Corporal. He also worked for Signode Tool Repair for almost 20 years.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, James Paul Dawson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Alice Ann Dawson of Steele; son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Tanya Dawson of Dallas, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon and Michael Waters of Gadsden, Ashley and Josh Beggs of Rainbow City; mother, Vivian King Dawson of Woodstock, Ga.; five grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice Dawson, Ellen Dawson Ewers and her husband, Tony, Helen Dawson, Beth Williams and her husband, Tommy, and Paula Coleman, all of Woodstock, Ga.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
A celebration of Eddie's life is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at The Church at Mercy Hill, 3867 Rainbow Drive, Rainbow City, AL 35906. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 p.m. to service time.
