Jewell Geanett Abel

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Collier-Butler Chapel for Jewell Geanett Abel, 90, Hokes Bluff, who died Tuesday, March 2, 2010. The Rev. Anthony Copeland will officiate with burial at Hokes Bluff Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Geanett was a lifelong resident of Hokes Bluff. She was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved her two boys and she loved life. She will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James "Buck" Abel Sr.; son, James B. "J.B." Abel Jr.; granddaughter, Marisa Lyne Abel; grandsons, Scott and David Abel; sisters, Maudie Williams, Lydia McClain and Edna Payne; brothers, Will T. Tanner, William Tanner, Leonard Tanner and Lonnie Tanner; and special friend, Emma Horton.
Survivors include her son, Fred (Alice) Abel; daughter-in-law, Barbara Abel; grandchildren, Chris (Andria) Abel, Mike Abel, Jimmy Abel, Michele (Jackie) Carroll and Casey (Denise) Reaves; great-grandchildren, Mason Abel, Gracie Abel, Addison Abel, Parker Abel, Lauren Abel and Quincy Reaves; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Nina McDowell and Buddy (Mary Ruth) Sandlin.
Special thanks to Dr. Iyer and the nurses at Gadsden Family Practice (formerly Goodyear Clinic), Dr. Sinha, Dr. Bogdonova and the nurses of the third-floor MICU and eighth-floor at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
