Luther Jerry Hubbard

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Crestwood Chapel for Luther Jerry Hubbard, 77, Glencoe, who died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013. The Rev. Randall Crotts will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
Mr. Hubbard loved the Lord, his family, fishing and bluegrass music. He played both the banjo and guitar and loved to pick with his buddies or on the porch for anyone who would listen. He was a man of many talents. He would walk the woods with his faithful companion, Rusty, a Dachshund Retriever. They would gather enough sticks to make walking sticks. He sold these to stores in the Smoky Mountains and used the proceeds to pay for vacations.
Mr. Hubbard had retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with more than 42 years service. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Beatrice Hubbard; son, Randall "Bubba" Hubbard; brothers, Charles and Kenneth Hubbard; sisters, Bonnie Handy and Carolyn Peterson; and his good friend, James Fletcher.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sue Vice Hubbard; son, Frank (Tina) Hubbard; daughter, Debra (Dan) Highfill; stepchildren, Tim (Amy) Vice and Susan Vice (Tony) Collett; grandchildren, Shelley and Emily Hubbard and Jeremiah, Joshua and Sara Howell; step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Candice Vice, Corey (Shelley) Mewbourn, Gracelyn Vice, Katie and Trent Collett, and Roland Waldrop; great-grandchildren, Abbie Alford, Kadyn Howell, Landon Smart, Braylen Mewbourn and Laethan Vice; sister, Frances Brugge; sisters-in-law, Carol Hubbard and Zell Wagnon; brother-in-law, "Pete" Peterson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Butler, Jimmy Ragsdale, Jerry Lay, Tommy Smith and Donald Wagoner.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service.
