Melvin Pike Freeman

Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Mr. Melvin Pike Freeman, 87, Attalla. The Rev. Danny Freeman, the Rev. Larry Garrard and the Rev. Robbie Burtrum will be officiating with burial in Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Freeman went to be with the Lord on Sept. 16, 2013. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Central Baptist Church and was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church. Mr. Freeman was a veteran of World War II, Pacific Theater, serving in the Navy on the USS Wisconsin. He was Past Master of Attalla Lodge NO. 383 F&AM and retired as a Brick Mason from Republic Steel. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Linnie Freeman; sister, Virginia White; brother, William Freeman; granddaughter, Christine Colegrove.
Survivors, wife of 70 years, Marian B. Freeman; daughters, Linda Quinn (Paul), Jane O'Neal (David); sons, Danny Freeman (Vickie), Wayne Freeman; grandchildren, Lee Colegrove (Leann), Sonja Smalley (Joel), Roxanne Roden (Mark), Brent Freeman (Brooke), Jennifer Whiddon (Andy); great-grandchildren, Samuel Colegrove (Natalie), Nichole and Mason Colegrove, Tyler and Hunter Smalley, Todd Roden, Jake and Mariah Whiddon.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers, special nephew, Travis Atkins, Dr. Webb Sledge and staff, Gentiva group and hospice nurse, Tiffany Seal.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
