The Rev. Pinckney Victor Love Jr.

Memorial services for the Rev. Pinckney Victor Love Jr., 70, of Diboll, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Diboll First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Chuck Huffman officiating.
The Rev. Love was born Nov. 5, 1942, and passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013, in a local hospital.
Pinckney was reared in Gadsden, Ala., the son of educated and professionally accomplished parents. He excelled in high school in both athletics and social connections, especially in track, basketball and football. He attended Howard College (now Samford University), transferred to the University of Alabama, where he completed his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts. With degrees in biology and education, he began a career in teaching and school administration, first in Alabama and then in Georgia. Eventually his longing to be a minister took over, and he entered Vanderbilt University and graduated from the Divinity School. He was ordained in the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, later joining the United Methodist Church and began many productive and creative years of pastoral care in North Carolina, Georgia, Southern Illinois and Texas. He was currently serving as the Pastor of Banita United Methodist Church in Nacogdoches County.
Survivors include his wife, the Rev. Becky Love of Diboll; daughter, Melissa Love Sauls and husband, Jason, of Pembrooke, Ga.; sons, "Trey" Pinckney Victor Love III of Waynesboro, Ga., and Tyler Ewing Love of Waynesboro, Ga.; daughters, Samantha Henson of Ft. Worth, Molly McWhorter and husband, Aaron, of Longview, and Susie Eldridge and husband, Denver, of Marshall; sisters, Victoria Love of Benbrook, and Nancy Kate Love and husband, Tom Pearce, of Staunton, Va.; grandchildren, Harleigh, Baleigh, Becca, Kaslyn, Jeremiah, Greenleigh and Gracyn.
