Rodrick Boler Obituary

Rodrick Clark Boler Sr., 71, of Marietta, Ga., passed away on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Ga. with the Rev. Warren Landrum officiating. A second service will be held in Alabama on Tuesday at 1 p.m. (Central Time) at James Memorial Baptist Church in Gadsden with the Rev. Bill Abbott officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery in Gadsden.
A native of Northport, Mr. Boler played football under Paul "Bear" Bryant at the University of Alabama from 1961 until 1963. In 1964, he worked as a Graduate Assistant with Mal Moore at the university. He became an educator and coach, and coached football and basketball at many schools, including Bloomsburg State University in Pennsylvania, and Wills, Allatoona, Smyrna, Osborne, Wheeler and Gadsden High Schools. He was a member of the University of Alabama A Club, the University of Alabama Baseball Alumni, and of Mt. Paran Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Tran Charlton Boler; two children, Rodrick Clark Boler II (Sara Williams) of Acworth, Ga., Leslie Boler Jones and husband, Chad, of Cumming, Ga.; five siblings, Doris Stokes, Shirley (Don) Stephens and Sharleen Hix, all of Northport, Morris (Sharron) Boler of Coker and Sonny (Judy) Boler of Gordo; seven grandchildren, Brendan P. Boler, Ryan Clark Boler, Amber Mae Jones, McKenna Boler, Ali P. Jones, Sean Boler and Trent Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends, Craig Payne, Charles Rigsby and Mike Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Baptist Foundation of Alabama, P.O. Box 241227, Montgomery, AL 36124, c/o 1803 Daisy Forman Scholarship.

Clark was a wonderful , lovin, carin, godly human of all, a man, husband, dad, friend, stranger, teacher, & COACH!
Clark went above & beyond to achieve his goals in life, bent over backwards to lend a helpin hand to all, touch numerous of people's & student's lives!
Clark is someone whom I've ALWAYS looked up too & admired! He will be soarly missed outward but will always be with us inward!
