Albert Akin Hallmark Jr. "A.A" went to meet his Lord and Savior on August 22, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was a dedicated husband, brother, dad, granddaddy and great-granddaddy.
A.A. was a precious gift to those who knew him and always had a twinkle in his eye and ready wink and.hug. He was a gentle loving soul that always welcomed people with open arms. He was a lifetime member and Deacon Emeritus at the Riddles Bend Baptist Church in Rainbow City, Ala. and was a dedicated member of the Joy Sunday school class.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1946 after serving on the submarine chaser SC660 in the American and Pacific Theaters during World War II.
A.A. was preceded in death by his first wife, Eris (Jones); his parents, Albert and Susie Hallmark; sisters, Juanita Thornton and Loretta Winningham; and granddaughter Deanna Rae Duncan.
Pallbearers for A.A. are Kenneth Payne, Jason Millirons, Wayne Calhoun, Rodney Peterson, Zac Seagraves and Anthony Hallmark.
A.A. is survived by his wife, Ossie Belle Hallmark; his sister, Betty Sue McIntyre; children, Albert A. Hallmark (Dale), Douglasville, Ga., Joyce A. Bailey (George), Cordova, Tenn., Daryl Hallmark (Renee), Alabaster, Ala., Dean S. Hallmark (Debra), Gurley, Ala.; stepson, Jerry Bryant (Boots), West Palm Beach Fla., his grandchildren, Terri Seagraves (Stephen), Anthony Hallmark (Melissa), Eris Deterding (Brandon), Jessica McCann (Chris), Tara Thompson (Jared), Natalie Hallmark, Autumn Hallmark and Hannah Hallmark; and his great-grandchildren, Zachary Seagraves, Caitlyn Seagraves, Chloe McCann and Laila McCann.
A.A. will be laid to rest at Crestwood Cemetery following services at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. The Rev. Rodney Prickett and the Rev. Roy Cordle will officiate. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Riddles Bend Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the community for their thoughtfulness during this time.
