It is with great sadness that the family of Erwin Chesbrough, 87, Ashville, announce his passing on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, in Gadsden.

Erwin was a longtime resident of Ashville and married the love of his life, Josephine Walden Chesbrough, on April 30, 1948. They were married to one another for 67 years. He was born in Escanaba, Mich. He studied at Oxford Academy in Pleasantville, N.J., and the University of Alabama. Mr. Chesbrough served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Chesbrough; sister, Betty Tucker, Birmingham; brother, Keith Cutler, Port Richie, Fla.; daughters, Nancy Lichtman and Jan Stephens; grandchildren, Chesie Roberts, Jennifer Vann and Chris Vann.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Oldham Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Ashville. The Rev. Jim Beck will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation services directing.
