Funeral will be at 7 p.m. tonight at Village Chapel in loving memory of Harvey Warren Greenland Jr., 83, of Centre, who passed away after a long illness on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012. The Rev. George Lankford will officiate. A visitation and service will be held Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at Gober Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Brookwood Cemetery in Arab.
Mr. Greenland retired from the Army Missile Command Pershing Project at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala. Mr. Greenland was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He fought in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Yates Greenland; son, David Greenland of New York; daughter, Leigh Anne Sutton of Guntersville; stepchildren, Jerry (Wendy) Yates and Ashley Hollaway; sister, Priscilla Andonie of New Orleans, La.; grandchildren, Katie Sutton, Marine Private First Class Jesse Sutton of Guntersville, Brittany (Dean) Wiggins, Bill Yates and Drew Yates; great-grandchildren, Landon and Jaxon Sparks of Guntersville, Julia, Paige and Katrina Wiggins.
Pallbearers will be Bill Yates, Drew Yates, A.J. Jarvis, Cody Godfrey, Steve Johnson, Austin Chambers, Dustin Chambers, and Patrick Andonie.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marine Private First Class Jesse Sutton, Don Gray, Billy Wayne Patterson, Richard Day, Dean Wiggins, Mickey Lee Guthrie, Dave Matthews and Chris Payne.
The family will receive friends today from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
