Memorial services for Mr. Lamar H. Bishop, 79, of Gadsden, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Collier-Butler Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Bishop passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at his home.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Willie Bishop; son, Benny (Martha) Bishop; daughter, Gina (Don) Alford; grandchildren, Charley Bishop and Miranda Alford; great-grandchildren, Adrian Bates, Tera and Steven Peoples; a brother, Wayne (Gene) Bishop of Concord, N.C.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joe and Judy Garmany; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his parents, Cranford H. and Della Helms Bishop; three sisters and two brothers.
He was retired after 45 years from Gulf States Steel and was also a veteran of the United States Army.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Courtney Lowe and Debbie, Dr. Todd Cross, MMC, Physician's Apothecary and Amedysis Hospice.
