Mr. Lavoy Earl Quarles, 45, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013, at his home after an extended illness with sarcoidosis.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church on Green Valley Road in Glencoe. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Mike Yates will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge.
Lavoy was a 1986 graduate of Glencoe High School and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Quarles was a certified welder/fitter. He worked for 11 years at Lemanco and several years at Hokes Bluff Welding and Fab Co. Lavoy was a huge Alabama fan. He was a very caring and compassionate person. He would give you the last dollar he had. He also was a volunteer fireman with Glencoe Fire Department for several years. He loved his son and daughter dearly.
Mr. Quarles was preceded in death by his parents, Marston and Barbara Quarles; niece and nephew, Jaydon James and Maggie Emmaleah Quarles; father-in-law, Fred Calhoun; grandparents, Jack and Annie Mae Noah, Onice and Carrie Quarles.
Survivors include his son, Nathan Quarles; daughter, Robyn Calhoun Thompson (Jeffery); brother, James (Lana) Quarles; ex-wife, Lara Calhoun; several aunts and uncles, cousins and other friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church building fund.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Nagishima, Fred Lasseter, Robbie Brown, Allen Dorough, Guy Shew, Doug Thomas, Barry Cherry and Richard Skipper.
Dress attire is casual. Lavoy would want you to relax and be comfortable.
