Our precious baby girl went to Heaven; taken by an automobile accident March 10, 2013.
Stefanie was born Dec. 15, 1982. She was selfless, loving and kind. She had a heart of gold that was bigger than the world. She loved life and was a true friend and had a smile that lit up a room. She had a nickname for everyone she met. She loved her family and friends, and had a special love for her precious Boudreaux. Not only was she smart and witty, but compassionate also.
Stefanie graduated from Southside High School, Auburn University (where she received her BS degree) and Jacksonville State University (where she received her degree in education). She taught Business Education at Southside High School and also had her CDL and loved driving a school bus. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving Papaw "Ronan" Marbut; her precious Aunt Cheri and Uncle Ronnie; and her sweet Uncle Jeff.
Stefanie is survived by her loving parents, Kenny and Pam Deru; her loving sisters, Jennifer and Lindsey Deru; grandparents, Betty Sue "Mamaw" Marbut, Millie "Grandmother" Deru, Buzz and Helen Deru; loving aunts and uncles, Debbie and Stanley Baswell, Brenda and Jimmy Hamby, Uncle Dougie and Ginger Deru, Patti and Kevin Limbaugh; and a host of loving cousins, great-aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be sweet cousins, Kevin Baswell, Jason Kitchens, Timmy Richardson, Kevin Stephens, Shawn Nelson, and special "Uncle Dougie."
Honorary pallbearers will be faculty and staff of Southside High School, friends from Southside High School Class of 2001, friends from Jacksonville State University and Auburn University, Etowah County Sheriff's Department, District Attorney Jimmie Harp, and Southside Fire and Rescue.
The family would like to thank the team of teachers at Southside High School and all the friends and family who loved her as strongly as we did. We would also like to thank the "girls" that she grew up with and loved so very dearly.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the American Breast Cancer Society; Etowah County United Way; or 13th Place.
