Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Crestwood Chapel for Allen Staton "Paw Paw" Wilson, 83, of Gadsden, who went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. Bro. Bill Parker will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Wilson was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 33rd Medical Depot.
He retired from Ryder Truck Lines after 35 years of service and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he loved to sing in the choir.
Music was a love of his and he played guitar and the lap steel guitar in several bands in the area.
He was preceded in death by his father, Erskin Wilson; mother, Estelle Wilson; son, Barry French; great-granddaughters, Addison Snead and Catherine Snead; and brother-in-law, Bill Clay.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Wilson "Maw Maw"; daughter, Renee Snead; daughter-in-law, Janice French; grandsons, Craig (Amanda) Snead, Todd (Tiffany) Snead; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Snead, Lukas Snead, Wilson Snead, Barit Snead, Avery Snead, Kolter Snead, Dodge Snead and Audry Snead; sisters, Mary Clay and Shirley (Al) Loggans; four nephews and two nieces.
Special thanks to Lawley Hospice, Darcy, Misty, Barbie, Wendy, Jan, Kelly and Bro. Dave. You are all very special people. Also thanks to all the friends, neighbors and family for the many visits and food.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Craig and Todd Snead, Colton Clifton, Mike Bryant, Dave Waits and Daryl Marbut.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Campbell, Benny Hollingsworth, Lavoy Preston, Max Thompson, Duane Kirchner, Alfred Mitchell, Charles Clifton and Bro. Allen Payne.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 am Saturday at the funeral home.
