Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crestwood Chapel for Clifford S. Allen, 84, Attalla, who died Saturday, April 19, 2008. Matthew Crowe will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Attalla. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.

Mr. Allen was born Dec. 31, 1923, and was a resident of Etowah County most of his life. He served two years in the Navy during World War II. He was a avid hunter and loved to have rabbit races with his beagles. For 30 years, he and his wife, Jean, owned and operated Cliff Burgers in Attalla and Gadsden. He was a faithful member of the Lord's church and attended Fairview Road Church of Christ. Mr. Allen was a kind and generous man who touched the hearts of all who came in contact with him. We will forever be blessed for having this wonderful man in our lives.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean Allen; chosen grandson, Skip Morgan; and great-grandson, Eli Simmons.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Robert) Simmons, Attalla; son, Clifford (Linda) Allen Jr., Monroeville; chosen daughter, Jean Payne, Gadsden; grandchildren, Larry (Vicki) Simmons, Attalla, Wayne (Susan) Simmons, Southside, Sherry Simmons, Attalla, Tracey (Blaine) McIlwain, Fairhope, and Amy (Vince) Dees, Monroeville; chosen grandchildren, Sabrina (Randall) Fells, Gadsden, Nathany ( Jerry) Standridge, Egypt community, Stacy (David) Harris, Walnut Grove, and Chuck Morgan, Miami, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Cody Simmons, Attalla, Caleb and T.J. Simmons, Southside, Josh and Emily McIlwain, Fairhope, and Cole Dees, Monroeville; sister, Bertha Griffin, Rainbow City; special nephew, Grady Norris, Trenton, Ga.; and several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Guy Allen, Gary Gladden, Ronnie Holloway, Bill Long, Jimmy May, Robert Palmer and Tommy Willingham.
Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren, Grady Norris, Dr. Robinson, nurses and staff of Amedysis, members of Fairview Road Church of Christ and employees of Magic Burger.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
