Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Village Chapel for Ethel (Polly) Thompson, 91, of Rainbow City, who died Jan. 13, 2013. The Rev. Albert Morgan and James Wallace will officiate. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thompson was a native of Gadsden. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church for many years and was instrumental in reorganizing the church in the 1940s. Polly was devoted to spreading the Word of God through her Bible ministry to jails and juvenile centers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Thompson; son, Stanley Morris Thompson; daughter, May (Tomi) Wandke.
She is survived by daughters, Doris (Bill) Wandke, Vonda Thompson and Sharon (Frank) Wallace; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steven Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Bill Brady, Mitchell Gregory, Tyler Wallace and Wesley Wilkerson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
