Ira Bearl Capps, 94, of Gadsden, Ala., passed away Feb. 19, 2013.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps (Air Force) during World War II, completed 43 combat missions in the new B-26 Bomber. He worked for Sears as an executive in both advertising and sales promotion. He also worked for Montgomery Ward and Sav-A-Stop Corp., a dedicated member of the Morocco Shrine Temple in Jacksonville, Fla. While working for Sears in Birmingham, he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Action Committee and active with Fall Fashion Week. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Busby Capps.
Survivors: daughters, Carol Wesley (Ralph), Gadsden, Ala., Patricia Capps, Tallahassee, Fla.; granddaughters, Joanna Harrison (Clay) Birmingham, Ala., Karen Wilhite (Jason) Panama City, Fla., Amy Harvey, Tallahassee, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Levy Storm Wilhite, Panama City, Fla., Sullivan Olivia Connell, Tallahassee, Fla., Ann Wesley Harrison, Birmingham, Ala., Samuel Clayton Harrison, Birmingham, Ala.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Allen O'Bryant officiating. Family request memorials be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
