Although Aunt Mae never had any natural children of her own, she had many nieces, nephews and friends who were like children to her in her heart, one of those dear friends being Marion Giamalva, who called her "Mama Mae," and dear friend and hair dresser for many years, Mary Rector.
She was a dedicated nurse's aide and cardiac monitor tech at Riverview Regional Medical Center and worked under the sisters at Holy Name of Jesus Hospital for more than 30 years. She was a member of Louis Street Baptist Church for many years. She was a very caring and generous person to everyone who knew her. She loved being surrounded by family, especially at Christmas.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Lillie Mae Garrett Logan; brother, Alex Jack Logan Jr.; sister, Lou Ellen Pansy Logan; husband, James Vanderbilt Adams; and special aunt, Dollie Nelson.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, whom she loved like they were her own children. Also her loving pets, TyTy and Black Jack.
Pallbearers will be Benny Battles, Johnny Adams, David Pankey and Michael Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of her nephews.
Special thanks to the nursing and medical staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center, especially, Dr. Jasiwal and Dr. Sengar.
The family will accept friends from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home today prior to the service.
