Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hokes Bluff First Baptist Church for Nell Blevins, 72, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away on Feb. 26, 2013. Pastor Eric House and the Rev. Charles Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Hokes Bluff Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel & Crematory is in charge of services.

Nell was a very active member of Hokes Bluff First Baptist Church for 42 years, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and taught Bible study. She was a 1959 graduate of Gadsden High School. She received her Bachelor's degree from Jacksonville State and her Master's degree from the University of Alabama. She was always on the dean's list at both colleges. She taught for 27 years at Hokes Bluff Middle School. Nell was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lula and Grover Sasser.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David Blevins; children, Lynn (Jeff) Carnes, Anne (Todd) Williams, Michael (Cassie) Blevins and Mitchell (Patricia) Blevins; grandchildren, Stacy and Seth Carnes, Hunter and Hannah Blevins, Joshua, Carson and Abigail Braun and Carly Blevins; sister, Wilma (Dave) Cromer; niece, Pennie (Mark) Tate; and great-niece, Rachel Tate.
Pallbearers will be Todd Williams, John Pruett, Jeff Carnes, Hunter Blevins, Mark Tate and Michael Blevins.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Fifty Niner's Group and Homebound Ministries.
Special thanks to ER and SICU nurses and staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, and Dr. Ralph Wesley.
The family will accept flowers, or memorials may be made to Hokes Bluff First Baptist Church Homebound Ministries.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
