Mr. Brown had been on a lifelong journey with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Before his young manhood could begin, he was diagnosed. He never became angry at his situation. He always made jokes and dealt with whatever the situation was for that day. His physicians marveled at his strength. This last journey had been the worst. He became frustrated that he was unable to play and teach his nephews new things.
Richard had a unique outlook for life. He was an avid animal lover, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his horse, Buttermilk. He was unusually fond of his American Bulldog "Tootie" and his nephew "Mason." He was a believer in Christ and read his Bible daily. He had a special way with children, even though he knew children were not an option for him. No matter how bad things got, Richard always said, "God has a plan for me and I have to accept that." He will be greatly missed and forever loved. Peace comes from knowing Jesus was waiting with open arms to accept His child home.
Richard was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Minnie Jo Mayo and Martha Carroll; grandfather, Earnest Brown.
Survivors are his parents, Becky (James) Carroll and Robert (Debra) Brown; grandmother, Nell Brown; grandfathers, Billy Mayo and James Carroll Sr.; very special chosen daughter, Taylor Nichols; very special chosen son, Dylan Smith; sister, Jamie Carroll.
Pallbearers are Ernie Battles, Don Battles, Eric Battles, Phillip Battles, Bob Brown, David DeMedicis, Justin Bailey and Dustin Estes.
Honorary pallbearer is Ronnie Battles.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
