Ruby "Ann" Painter

Ruby "Ann" Erwin Painter, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, in Titusville, Fla. Surviving a 20-year battle with breast cancer, she died of a stroke after a three-week stay in the hospital.
Ruby was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Homer and Besse Livingston. She spent most of her childhood in and around Rome, Ga. Graduating high school from Rome, Ga., she followed her sister, Virginia Erwin Paige, to Washington, D.C., and became the secretary for GE. Ruby was introduced to an electrical engineer, John Painter, by Virginia. On Oct. 5, 1952, she married John Hunter Painter Sr. and had four children. They retired to Titusville, Fla., in 1990.
Ruby is survived by her husband of 59 years, John H.; sons, John Painter, Jim Painter and Jeff Painter; daughter, Mary Painter Doss.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Crestwood Memorial in Gadsden and is open to all friends and family.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m.
