Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at Collinsville Funeral Home for Mr. Travis Maxwell Norris, 81, who passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014. The Rev. Melvyn Salter will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Collinsville Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Norris was a native of DeKalb County and attended Sand Rock High School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War veteran. He worked in a supervisory position for H & M Harper, Chicago, Ill., and Lodi Iron Works, Lodi, Calif., before returning to Alabama, where he was a supervisor at Cagle's, Collinsville, until retirement.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and listening to country music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois (Fox) Norris; sister, Artice Pendergrass; brother, Elvin Norris.
He is survived by his sons, David Bryant Norris (Vonnie) and Steven Clark Norris (Kellie); seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Nelda (Norris) Coker; brother, David Norris; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joel Coker, Jeff Norris, Jason Norris, Richard Coker, David Morgan and Lee Morgan.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
