Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Village Chapel for Vera B. Davenport, 96, of Attalla, who died Feb. 6, 2013. The Rev. Harold Adcock will officiate. Burial will take place at Red Hill Cemetery, Gallant. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davenport was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a precious lady and loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by husband, Luther Ross Davenport; son, Clyde Davenport; and brothers and sisters.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Beck; grandchildren, Donna (William) Attaway, Tonya Beck, Steve (Bella) Beck; special great-granddaughters, Morgan Attaway and Lauren Beck; brother, Alfred Rakestraw.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearer will be Ray Rakestraw.
The family wishes to express thanks to the staff of Attalla Health Care and Rehab, especially the CNAs, and Ms. JoAnn Lindsey. The family wishes to express thanks and love to Richard Perryman, the best neighbor, friend and chosen son that "Mrs. D" could ever have.
