Mrs. Emily Janis Underwood was born April 23, 1933, to the late Horace Myers and Rubeye Lee Thaxton. The Lord opened up His loving arms as she transitioned home on April 29, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Loveless Underwood; and daughter, Ora Lee Truitt.
She leaves with many fond memories of times together, her children, Myrna Baker, Jacqueline Hamilton, Alwin (Louvern) Underwood, Regina (Lawrence) Tyson, all of Attalla, Bernadette Bush, Gadsden, and Reginald (Astrid) Underwood, Hanau, Germany; 28 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many dear friends.
Her services will be Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Antioch United Methodist Church in Gadsden. Her body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Her viewing will be today from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at West Gadsden Funeral Home, 2118 Forrest Ave., Gadsden, AL 256-549-0004. Burial will be at Lincoln Hill Memorial Park.
